And they remembered his words (Luke 24:8)
Words!
Words are the verbal and audible expression of whom and what a man truly is. Words are the thoughts and intents of a man represented by letters. A person can only be truly identified by his words; until a man speaks, it is impossible to accurately identify or classify him.
Facial recognition is a foul and very misleading benchmark to appraise a man. It is simply inadequate and insufficient. At the most, it is laughable as an index. That’s why it is a cheap and common means for man to disguise behind facial placard to deceive or defraud.
The worth of every man is his word. This is implicitly and tacitly true. Either sooner or later, one always measure up to his words. Words are simply supernatural. It is God’s mechanism built into everyman to identify him – it is intricately accurate without any margin of error. Words exactly imprint a man’s true content and color. Even if a man is lying: attempting to evade recognition through his words, his breath being the untrue words by which such man is attempting to deceive. Words will always unveil the true man.
Peter being beneath the palace at the trial of the Lord Jesus Christ was approached by a certain maid who attempted to identify Peter by his facial recognition said to him, “you were one of those with Jesus of Nazereth too… Then he commenced invoking a curse on himself [should he not be telling the truth] and swearing, I do not know the Man about Whom you are talking!” (Mark 14:67-68 AMP) but some that stood by who heard the words of Peter, denying (not only knowing Jesus) but rather directly denying his own facial identification, looked on Peter and identified Peter by his words when they said, “Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.” (Mark 14:70). Peter was identified by his words…a man’s word will also agree with his true self about which Peter “when he thought thereon, he wept. (Mark 14:72)
Beloved, it is a matter of time, ones words will naturally verify one. Let us grow and mature by our words. Consider what the Bibles says, “Even a fool when he holds his peace is considered wise; when he closes his lips he is esteemed a man of understanding.” (Prov. 17:28 AMP) Let’s observe and take good notice of the Scripture here, the means by which someone may be misidentified is if he does not speak or his words are not heard, the converse of which is exactly true; someone cannot be misidentified if he speaks or his words are heard.
In the context of Jesus’s resurrection, He had previously by His Words, told them of His betrayal by one of his disciples, his death and that on “…the third day He shall be raised again” (Matt. 17:22-23) but they neither took it to heart nor believed Him. How they were reminded of who Jesus was/is when “the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among [those who are] dead?He is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee (Luke 24:5-6). Let us go up and grow up maturing in our person, verified not by how we look but what we said…as “they remembered His Words” (Luke 24:8)
