Giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. (Col. 1:12 NIV)
God has an inheritance for His Holy people of whom you and I are a part through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This inheritance is held and derived in His Kingdom as we become Kingdom citizens.
We become God’s Kingdom citizens when we receive by Faith God’s redemption plan delivered by the Lord Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection from the dead respectively signifying the judgement of death delivered to punish sins committed and rising to newness of life unto righteousness for and on behalf of everyone who would believe on His Name; i.e. Jesus Christ.
According to the Scriptures, “In the same way that Moses lifted the serpent in the desert so people could have something to see and then believe, it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up—and everyone who looks up to him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life. “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him. (John 3:14-18 MSG).
This salvation plan is great and unique. It delivers a glorious inheritance at the instance of Faith so that… everyone who looks up to him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life. It is this trusting and expectant reliance on the substitutional punishment inflicted on the Lord Jesus Christ that entitles and enlists one as beneficiary and bona fide member of God’s divine Kingdom and the attending privileges it delivers including a new life of righteousness modulated by God’s Holy Spirit.
Having become God’s Kingdom citizens, it is congruent on our part to devote time and energy to understanding God’s Kingdom rights and privileges, our necessary duties and the compliance requirements to maintaining the Kingdom citizenship. We must personally invest in understanding what has been delivered to us to derive blessings and appropriate them for our necessary good.
An important fact to note about God’s Kingdom is its Spiritual nature, it is invisible; it cannot be observed but rather experienced. Its invisibility or intangibility does not deprive or deny its authenticity: it is real and truly exists. It is about this its feature that the Bible informs and warns that we must not rely on our physical senses or “naturality” to participate, transact or operate in the Kingdom.
The Kingdom is derivable by Faith in the Invisible God. Paul puts it thus; “I need to emphasize, friends, that our natural, earthy lives don’t in themselves lead us by their very nature into the kingdom of God. Their very “nature” is to die, so how could they “naturally” end up in the Life kingdom? (1Cor. 15:50 MSG). To inherit, possess and operate in God’s Holy Kingdom, we must be spiritually inclined to unveil its rich and glorious blessings by living a lifestyle dominated and controlled by God’s Holy Spirit. This is REST.
