By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Heb. 13:15 KJV
We are saved and purchased for a purpose. God manifested His kindness to us to raise for Himself a Nation of people and kindred denoted and devoted to His Glory and Praise. This is our reasonable service and noble call.
The Bible says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV). Having been brought out of darkness, shame, doom and gloom; we must apprehend the immense goodness that brought us into the grace wherein we now stand for The Lord Jesus according to the Bible, “purchased us by His blood.” (Acts. 20:28 KJV)
In honor and appreciation of God’s goodness and benevolence, we must give unto the Lord a continuous stream of appreciation for the marvelous work of grace He wrought to bring us salvation. It is about this honorable goal and role that the Bible says, “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Heb. 13:12-15 KJV). The fruit of our lips; giving of thanks to God is a necessary and continuous sacrifice; we must offer.
The Psalmist also says, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever: But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore. (Psalm 92:1-8 KJV).
Beloved, A sacrifice as a willful surrender of a possession as an offering to God; so, must our praises of God be a willful surrender to honor and appreciate God for His kind goodness to us. Let us be thankful and praiseful of our God, knowing we owe it to Him. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and joyful appreciation for His loving kindness and goodness every day and everyway.
Praise ye the Lord.
