And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. (Luke 5:5 KJV)
The Word of God is the reality of God. The Word of God makes God’s existence real. It makes God “visible”. We can hold God when we behold His Word.
God is a Spirit… (John 4:24) A good understanding of this Nature of God is the differentiating element between those who know, relate and interact with God and those who do not. God reveals Himself by His Word and if we are smart to “wait” – tarry, meditate or linger – on His Word – God becomes “actively” visible.
Moses had walked and worked with God for some time when he desired to see God visibly, “But God said, “You cannot see My face, for no man shall see Me and live!” (Exo. 33:20). The goodness of God forbad Him to cause Him to be shown to Moses because Moses will die. What a good God will serve.
We sure do not understand the effect of some of the things we say or ask that had God not been so good, we would have caused our own selves great harm. The most tolerate realm of Man with God is to relate with God’s Word. We must become acquainted, settled and comfortable with the reality of this Truth and therefore reverence our interaction with the Word of God as in effect interacting with God.
In the reference context; Peter and others “were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.” (Luke 5:2). They had concluded the day’s event and were wrapping up. They were washing their nets after concluding and completing the fishing circle for the day and were about to retire until they met Jesus that good day and He said; “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” (Luke 5:4 KJV) At that remark, Jesus was not unclear or uncertain of the outcome of Peter’s reliance on the Word.
We must understand that The Word of God is not a remark or mere comment, it is not a wish or desire; it is exactly what it is. The Word of God creates what God says. Praise the Lord! Gaining this truth must motivate us to seek God’s Word and desire Him to speak to us on any and every life’s concern or subject. Because once God speaks; it is done as He says.
The Bible put it thus “Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. (Psalm 33:9).
As was in the testimony of Peter when He said, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. (Luke 5:5-6 KJV) We must not allow our expertise; prior experience or general trends implicate our reliance on what God says. Just go ahead and do when you know it.
The most fortunate thing that can happen to any person is to have a Word spoken to him/her by God. Nothing is more guaranteed. Please, let us value our interaction with the Word of God. It is well.
