But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature]. (1 Cor. 2:15 AMP)
God wants His children to the spiritually minded. God wants us to be conscious of the elevated and domineering spiritual influence that commands and direct all we see and know. We must be cognizant of the reality of spirituality. Spirituality is essentially a composition of unseen (invisible) realities; a system or realm organized and dominated by un-bodies beings; i.e. beings that have forms but no natural bodies.
The existence of this realm should not frightened us neither should it exonerate our active involvement rather our cognitive participation in it is required to grant us active command and control of events and activities that pertain to us. The Bible says; “For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood].” (2 Cor.10:3 AMP) clearly highlighting Man’s involvement in the physical and spiritual realm. We cannot to be content to walk as mortal men alone, that is being natural and not spiritual.
A notable and pertinent reason why we must be spiritual is because God is a Spirit and we cannot interact with or worship Him without being spiritual. Jesus said it thus; “God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24 AMP) Notice, the scripture says, God is invisible (not non-existent); it is the erroneous interchange of invisibility with non-existence that has implicated the reality of God’s existence by the natural man. Man was not designed to leave by sight alone rather Man’s total experience is to both participate in the natural and spiritual realm of our existence. When one fails to be spiritually active, such a person is reckoned to be living after the Flesh (naturally) and as such is spiritually dead. This was what happened to Adam, the first Man according to the Bible; disobeyed God and so died. He became spiritually irresponsive and so could not control or direct the spiritual influence around him. He became carnal (natural) and subject to the invisible realm that began to govern him.
God intended and designed our spirituality to grant us permit to interact with Him and power to command and control the events that pertain to us. It is the Holy Spirit of God indwelling a Man that grants the necessary apparatus to interact spiritually. He (Holy Spirit) absorbs and overrides the carnal nature and allows one to fellowship with God as intended. The presence of the Holy Spirit makes the life in the Spirit (Spiritual life) possible. The Bible says “However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you]. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God]. (Rom 8:9 AMP)
