Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters. (Ezek. 31:7)
Root is the quintessential part of the tree or plant buried in the earth that draws necessary nutrients for the growth and sustenance of the tree. It is typical therefore to expect a strong tree to in effect have strong root and vice versa.
The validation of trees strength and stability is apparent during storms or strong winds. It appears the “super bowl” drama for trees roots is “super storms”. It is noteworthy to ponder and contemplate this for a minute. Consider this, it is not visibly apparent (except may be for Botanist or tree specialists) to appraise the root of a tree because; first, roots are not visible being buried in the soil, also roots typically grow downwards, deeper and further from “us” and of course appraising the root may require uprooting the tree which (if care is not taking) may terminate the life and existence of the plant or tree. So caution is necessary here.
Alas, storms and strong winds are the chief examiner for trees roots, without respect, bias, prejudice or preference, a strong wind will sweep over a vast plantings of trees and pronto the texture and strength of the trees are verified and exposed. Trees with strong and enduring roots will “play, dance and clap their hands” in the storm, un-perturbed, baffled or rattled rather joyful but weak plants which had hid their weakness in the soil, clad by thin covering but are without roots, with dazzling shoots are so soon gone with the wind; rooted out and driven away like the chaff and their places know them no more.
Beloved, God requires that you and I are “Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Col. 2:7-10).
It must be noted and understood that our authentic root is our trust and reliance on God’s Word communicated by His Breath, understood by the spirit, taught by His Spirit. Selah
The Lord says, “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. (Jer. 17:5-8)
Beloved, the storms and strong winds of life come to the Saints and the Sinner, the goose and the gander, but respective roots are the validator and justifier of who wins.
Please Be Rooted…trusting God completely.
