Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 1:1
Faith in God is a very precious virtue. It is the universal currency of God’s Kingdom; the legal tender that procures and delivers to everyone what they are and what they have. The Kingdom of God is without partiality, preference or bias. It is to everyone in the Kingdom according to his/her faith.
The Bible clearly illustrates the tenet and verity according to one’s Faith in the event of two blind men that came to Jesus, “crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us… and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, according to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened;” (Matt. 9:27-30). It is important to note that everyone in the kingdom is a product of his/her Faith in God. “If one believes…then his eyes would open”. We need to give good notice to these things (Kingdom Keys) that we may derive the benefit inherent in them.
Talking about benefits, it is impossible to draw benefit from an item without good grasp of its latent value. The value assigned to an item is the function of the perceived benefit. When the perceived benefits increase, value increases. Value is however a function of personal insight and judgement. This explains why two people would be prepared to pay different prices for the same item. One that assigns higher value essentially perceives greater benefit. This is the matrix that defines and creates the stratum within our society and our pursuit. We do not have the same sense of value.
This is not too different in the Kingdom of God. Bible makes a fundamental assertion regarding our common Faith when it calls it “Precious Faith”. Faith is precious, a priceless and treasurable item. Concerning this Faith, the Bible further asserts, “Without Faith, it is impossible to please God…” (Heb. 11:6) but it takes individual value assignment to extract the benefit inherent in the Faith we have towards God.
Beloved, all things are possible by Faith. This saying is true and ought to be accepted by all.
Giving this background, it is cogent to mention that the value of every item is enhanced when it is further processed and a wider and greater benefit is thereby derivable. This is also true concerning Faith. Bible says “So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead). (James 2:17 Amp) Notice how the Bible puts it, Faith…by itself is destitute, worthless, penniless, vain and without worth, value or benefit. We must add to Faith.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, we must not be the vain “man” when it comes to Faith, “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2:20) We must add to our Faith to have it deliver the immeasurable benefits it carries.
Beloved, “…giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5-8)
