Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. (Psalm 147:1)
Nothing delivers profit or benefit like understanding. When a subject is well understood, one essentially masters (becomes a master of that subject) the subject and by that mines, extracts the content of that subject to his use and profit. Subject or Course Professors in Universities are deemed to have mastered their respective subject, they profess the subject not by reading the subject as everyone else but rather by the study, research of the subject including performing experiments to understand various conditions, to determine the character of the subject and identify its properties. The commitment and devotion of these College Professors to understand the nature and texture of the subject is what confers their mastery of the subject and they began to profess the subject; earn compensation for it
It is time we pursued and gained understanding of the subject of Praise; its content, composition, character and compensation…praise is comely, appropriate and necessary. Praise is a majestic and fantastic weapon of war and welfare. Praise is the production site for flint stones to executive judgment against the enemy, the quarry for hailing vengeance against the wicked and best of all, the seething pot for pleasing God.
Praise is pleasant…(Psalm 147:1) .We must pause to gain truth here. The whole essence of man’s creation, his fall, redemption and justification is centered on man’s requirement to please God. When God made man, man was given divine instruction to maintain his stand before God and earn his pleasure. But man displeased God and lost his place before God. Driven out of God’s presence (Eden), man became a fugitive, depraved and denied of all sanctity void of any sense to give or earn God’s pleasure. Man became deplorable. Ah! May we not return or remain natural man in Jesus Name.
God is his infinite wisdom and gesture of Love raised a man in Jesus the Christ, a man about whom God said, “…I am well pleased” (Matt. 3:17). This is God requirement for all his sons…as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12). God wants all his children to please him. That is the essence of salvation. To the Saints in Christ and Church in Colosse, and Paul wrote, For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; (Colossian 1:9-10).
The focus of man’s relationship with God is to please God. That is our calling, that is our mandate…to walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing. Now the Bible says, Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. (Psalm 147:1). We do a pleasing act…when we Praise the Lord. Praise ye the LORD
