Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. (John 4:6)
The Principal interest of God is Harvest. He needs to Harvest the World. Since Harvest is the result and outcome of sowing, it is expected that sowing was intentional to create harvest.
The essential feature of sowing is to “kill one so that others may live”. This feature illustrates the pain that precede the gain of harvest. The Bible puts it thus, I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest.(John 12:24 AMP). This is an important and profound Truth we must assimilate; except a grain seed is cast into the earth and dies; there will be no yielded grains to sustain humanity. This is a very important notice; one dies that other may live. It is this cycle of keeping some grains to cast into the earth and die that has perpetuated continuous supply of grains upon which humanity thrives and survives. We consciously and expeditiously maintain this process lest we all famish and are vanquished. It is therefore the interest in Harvest that motivates the sowing of a precious and goodly seed. This is the primordial interest of God in Harvest.
God planted a very important and precious seed on the earth from which He looks for Harvest. About this seed, the Bible says, “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16 AMP) .
That God gave his [One and] only begotten Son; He did so with harvest in view about which the Bible further says, “But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while [by taking on the limitations of humanity], crowned with glory and honor because of His suffering of death, so that by the grace of God [extended to sinners] He might experience death for [the sins of] everyone. For it was fitting for God [that is, an act worthy of His divine nature] that He, for whose sake are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the author and founder of their salvation perfect through suffering [bringing to maturity the human experience necessary for Him to be perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest]. (Heb. 2:9-10AMP).
Notice, Jesus like a seed, in bring many sons to glory, experience death. The sacrifice of God in releasing his only begotten son is the necessary basis for the many sons of God we all are today. God still has many more sons being the harvest of that One Goodly and Precious Seed He planted on the field called the World (Matt. 13:38)
Beloved, this soul crops for whom the Seed of God was cast and died is fully ripe; “Look, I say to you, raise your eyes and look at the fields and see, they are white for harvest” (John 4:35 KJV) and the necessary implement for Harvest is laborers (Harvesters) who will thrust the sickle are rake the crops. This is the eagerness of God; you and I being co-laborers with Him must bring-in the harvest to prevent rot. The most exhilarating aspect of the Harvest process is that the laborers are duly paid (compensated) and that is a blessed motivation for us to go into the field and bring in the sheaves for “he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.” (John 4:36 KJV) . Go ahead, do get tired…thrust in the sickle.
