And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. (Matt. 14:26 KJV)
God desires that His children know Him. This is the content and context of the new covenant. About this desire, the Bible says, “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jer. 31:33-34 KJV). To know Him is God’s prima facie agenda in His relation and interaction with Man; we must gain this important point and notice.
Since the fall of Man occasioned by Man’s disobedience to the ordinance of God back in Eden, the carnal or fallen nature of Man has been a great hinderance and limitation to the knowledge and comprehension of God. As was back in Eden, the carnal nature retracts from the entreaties of God to having a relation or interaction with God. Bible says, “they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool [afternoon breeze] of the day, so the man and his wife hid and kept themselves hidden from the [d]presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to Adam, and said to him, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” (Gen. 3:8-10 AMP). Notice, Man hid and kept themselves hidden from the [d]presence of the Lord God. This is the crux and root of Man’s isolation from the knowledge of God. The carnal nature always shrinks or hides from the presence of God. It is for knowing God that Jesus came to redeem and restore Man. The Bible says, “no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” (Matt. 11:27 KJV). Man’s fallen nature is so absurd and estranged from the knowledge of God; the Bible says, “no man knoweth…”
In God’s bid to make Himself known to Man, the natural Man is always terrified at every instance of God’s bid to reach him. First in Eden, Man hid himself, also as Jesus was walking on the water approaching His disciples; “they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear”.
In Man’s natural or carnal state, Man cannot interact with God nor comprehend God. This is the important basis for being born of the Spirit. God is a Spirit. For Man to interact with God; Man must share the nature that makes God comprehensible; being and walking in the Spirit.
The Bible says, “But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]” (1 Cor. 2:14 AMP). When one is born of the Spirit, it becomes tolerable and possible to know and understand God, to aptly comprehend the revelation of God and grow into His Nature.
You must be born of the Spirit. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, carnal and natural but that which is born of God is of God being of The Spirit as God. Please, be born again.
