And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. Luke 5:10
Jesus came to call and relocate us from the low and lowly place to a high and noble place. He came to give us glory, color and honor. Prior to Peter’s encounter with Jesus, Peter encounter loss and wasted time and venture. According to Peter himself, “…we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.” (Luke 5:5 KJV). Peter and his team had labored, worked and groan under the burden and hardship of long harrowing night without result until Jesus the Lord of Glory met with them.
The story of Peter and his team clearly depicts the distressing and disturbing limitation of human effort barring the interaction with the presence and partnership of the Great God. Man will always labor without result. This must wear out and wear off anyone, but Jesus has a greater and nobler call to everyone who will heed his call and partner with Him. He came to bring us to Glory.
Jesus came to introduce and relocate us to a life of honor, full of glory. In the reference context; Peter and others “were gone out of them and were washing their nets.” (Luke 5:2). They had concluded the day’s event and were wrapping up. They were washing their nets, had concluded and completed the fishing circle for the day and were about to retire until they met Jesus that good day and He said; “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” (Luke 5:4 KJV) At that remark, Jesus was not unclear or uncertain of the outcome of Peter’s reliance on the Word.
The glory of the saints is relying on the Word of God. We must understand that The Word of God is not a remark or mere comment, it is not a wish or desire; it is exactly what it is. The Word of God creates what God says. Praise the Lord. Gaining this truth must motivate us to seek God’s Word and desire Him to speak to us on any and every life’s concern or subject. Because once God speaks; it is done as He says. Jesus would afterwards call Peter to a greater call and venture of catching men. This is a call to honor to partner with God in sharing the glorious gospel and bringing men into the glorious and blessed kingdom of God.
Sure, it is good to be under God. Would you consider this “good” place and be free, exempted and let off the lower abyss of the wicked devil where labor and toil exist? We can choose. After all Peter, James and John chose also to follow Jesus to get to that high mountain apart by themselves…come apart also, follow Jesus and He will take you to High points of Life, full and resplendent of color and Glory. It is a call to glory to serve the True and Living God. Arise and shine…they forsook all and followed him.
