The Spirit of Life

The Spirit of Life

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Col. 3:4 KJV)

We need to gain the truth about our creation to gain understanding of our formation, (the material we are made of) and the required competency to manage our being. Man is a delicately composite creation; uniquely and utterly unlike any other. It is this “delicately composite” nature of Man that confers Man with the dominion and exquisite class being granted to him over all God’s creation.

Man was not an abstract or thoughtless creation of God rather God was deliberate and intentional about the need and creation of Man. This is important for our cognitive and collegiate appreciation of our true self if or when we understand the reasoning that straddles our respective existence. You and I are uniquely important and implicitly relevant to the cause and course of events on the face of the Earth. This is important to apprehend.

About God’s contemplation of the creation of Man, the Bibles says, “God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Gen 1:26 KJV). Notice the grand thought and reminiscence that precipitated the creation and formation of Man; the image and likeness Man was designated to Mirror and assigned role to Man in the scope. It is simply intense. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Gen. 1:27 KJV).  Annotate the consequential term “So” upon which God went forward to create Man.  It was upon the thought and terms that defined the creation that “So” developed Man; “…God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;”

The unique element that differentiated and elevated Man was the breath of life; introduced by God and by whom Man became a “living Soul”.  This is the unique and defining element, the filament of Man’s life-light. It is our good understanding therefore to retain and maintain the life kindle by this “filament” organized by the Breath of God. The Bible puts it thus, “The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” (Job 33:4 KJV) and “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4 KJV)

Beloved, in the breath of God is life…so breath. Take a breath and live.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13 KJV)

Truth plays a dominant role in the acquisition, management and maintenance of power. This notice and its context are crucial to the legality and legitimacy of power. Where power is obtained or exercised without the fabric of truth, it is deemed illicit, fake, illegal and void. Power without truth would only persist until truth is known or discovered. This is the bane and blight of the kingdom of satan; embroiled in lies and falsehood until the revelation of the Truth of the gospel of Christ.

Power is the ability to direct or effect a change; it is the means by which people or systems are governed or controlled; an overriding and dominant influence to control or subdue at will. It must however be understood that the legitimacy of power is derived from the Truth that constitutes it. Where the basis of power is false, it soon becomes illegitimate when true power comes to reign. This notion is well illustrated and understood by the cheaply overthrow of the reign or power of unclean (evil) spirits by the Lord Jesus Christ when He encounter these unclean spirits.

According to the Scriptures, “When evening came, they brought to Him (Jesus Christ) many who were under the power of demons; and He cast out the evil spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick [exhibiting His authority as Messiah], (Matt. 8:16 KJV). This clearly highlights the transient term of fake or illegitimate power until true power takes reign. Legitimate power denominated by truth will always trump and overthrow wicked power which is denominated by falsehood. Jesus Christ, according to the Scriptures, “is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6 KJV) and He, being the Truth, His reign and power are legitimate, and the devils know it and so He cheaply casts out the evil spirits with a word. The power of the devil is illegitimate; derived from lies, whims and tricks. He is a vicious conman who arrogates power by lies and deception.  Whenever a believer gains this truth and deploys the ascribed power of the Truth delivered through the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the devil must vacate his reign at instant. This is the need and importance of Believers knowing the truth. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32 KJV). Notice the power to gain freedom from the tyrannical oppression of the devil is to gain knowledge of the Truth. Truth confers power that grants dominion and victory.

It is in this context of truth and power that we must pursue the baptism and indwelling of the Holy Spirit whom the Bible describes as the Spirit of Truth that we may grasp and connect with truth that confers legitimacy on our exercise of power overall devils. According to the Bible, Jesus said, “when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” (John 16:13 KJV).  The Holy Spirit informs and empowers the Believer with accurate and truthful information that the devil cannot refute and thereby have the devils subject at the mention of the Name of Jesus Christ to the Believer. This is the victory of the Saints when by the Holy Spirit, we gain the notice of the Truth that confers power to dominate. Praise the Lord.

The Power of God

Featured Post

But you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the unttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8 KJV)

Power is an attribute of God. Of His power, the Bible says, “Great is our Lord, and of great power…” (Psalm 147:5 KJV). It is Power that elicit God’s presence and existence. Without Power God would not be God nor His creation exist. God is revered and feared because of His Power.

The concept of Power is natural and well too known to all. In the human, animal and plant kingdom, there is a segmentation and differentiation occasioned by power. There is a natural tussle to dominate or gain control, the weak is conquered and the strong is domineering. Even in the performance of feat, tasks and exploits; power is a necessary tool. One cannot endure being powerless.

About the Kingdom of God also, the Bible says, “The Kingdom of God is not in word, but in Power. (1 Cor. 4:20 KJV). The distinguishing feature of God’s Kingdom, it practices and profession is its Power content. Without Power, the Christian faith will be weak, feeble, without impact or effect. The Bible testified of the immense power dimension of the Christian witnessing and early Missionary work of the disciples when it says, “With great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33 KJV). Power is what validates the testimony and witnessing of the Christian Faith.

As Christians and Kingdom citizen, we must recognize the compelling need to walk in Power. Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthian Church emphasized the role of Power in Ministry and Kingdom service when he said, “my speech and preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of Spirit and of power. That your faith should not in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Cor. 2:4-5 KJV). There is the accompanying power content that makes Christian Ministry and Service effective and impactful. We will not be able to accomplish the mandate of being Christ’s disciples without the attending power to generate result.

Beloved, the power of God is the necessary means to fulfil the demand of the Christian faith and demonstrate its potency. Without the power of God, a Christian cannot even overcome sin, temptation or the despotic whims of the wicked. It is for this important and necessary cause that Jesus cautioned the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49 KJV).  This notice is for every believer, to gain need and understanding of enduement of Power from God to be effective.

We must not only gain this notice but also consciously and continuously deploy and depend of God’s power as we walk, talk and work God’s kingdom events and activities. Let’s us be attentive to Jesus’ admonishment to receive power as also He did to proclaim God’s kingdom. “How God anointed Jesus with Holy Ghost and Power, who went about doing good for the Lord was with him.” (Acts 10:38 KJV). We must tarry in prayer asking God for the enduement of Power to be relevant in Kingdom activities. Praise the Lord!
