But you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the unttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8 KJV)
Power is an attribute of God. Of His power, the Bible says, “Great is our Lord, and of great power…” (Psalm 147:5 KJV). It is Power that elicit God’s presence and existence. Without Power God would not be God nor His creation existent. God is revered and feared because of His Power.
The concept of Power is natural and well too known to all. In human, animal and plant kingdom, there is a segmentation and differentiation occasioned by power. There is a natural tussle to dominate or gain control, the weak is conquered and the strong is domineering. Even in the performance of feat, tasks and exploits; power is a necessary tool. One cannot endure being powerless.
About the Kingdom of God also, the Bible says, “The Kingdom of God is not in word, but in Power. (1 Cor. 4:20 KJV). The distinguishing feature of God’s Kingdom, it practices and profession is its Power content. Without Power, the Christian faith will be weak, feeble, without impact or effect. The Bible testified of the immense power dimension of the Christian witnessing and early Missionary work of the disciples when it says, “With great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33 KJV). Power is what validates the testimony and witnessing of the Christian Faith.
As Christians and Kingdom citizen, we must recognize the compelling need to walk in Power. Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthian Church emphasized the role of Power in Ministry and Kingdom service when he said, “my speech and preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of Spirit and of power. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Cor. 2:4-5 KJV). There is the accompanying power content that makes Christian Ministry and Service effective and impactful. We will not be able to accomplish the mandate of being Christ’ disciples without the attending power to generate result.
Beloved, the power of God is the necessary means to fulfil the demand of the Christian faith and demonstrate its potency. Without the power of God, a Christian cannot even overcome sin, temptation or the despotic whims of the wicked. It is for this important and necessary cause that Jesus cautioned the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49 KJV). This notice is for every believer, to gain need and understanding of enduement of Power from God to be effective.
We must not only gain this notice but also consciously and continuously deploy and depend of God’s power as we walk, talk and work God’s kingdom events and activities. Let’s us be attentive to Jesus’s admonishment to receive power as also He did to proclaim God’s kingdom. “How God anointed Jesus with Holy Ghost and Power, who went about doing good for the Lord was with him.” (Acts 10:38 KJV). We must tarry in prayer asking God for the enduement of Power to be relevant in Kingdom activities. Praise the Lord!
‘And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.'(Mark 9:22)
Man must be aware of being at war. There is a contest over every Man’s life. This truth must be known and understood. It is about this war or contest that God at the start (in Eden) gave Man that de facto mandate; have Dominion. We must understand that Man was created for a defined and intentional purpose. Man was created to solve a problem; to manage God’s estate (the Earth) and counteract the works of a wicked being whose target was to decimate the works of God.
After God had created all things; He needed a Manager; someone to direct and govern the earth and so He said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Gen. 1:26 KJV). Notice, Man was created to have dominion…over all the earth.
The notion “to have dominion” itself informs of contest and tussle to hold and maintain control by the exercise of Power. It takes power to wield dominion. This important notice is the basis of Man’s existence. Man was designed and “developed” to exercise power, authority and governance on the earth; to represent God as god of this earth directing and controlling all things under the rule and instruction of God; to enforce and administrate order and perpetuate peace on earth. This was God’s charge to Man.
Man could not wield this dominion for long; the challenger upstaged Man and Man lost dominion. The Bible would later identify and describe satan as the god of the world who blinds people’s mind. (2 Cor. 4:4) The activities of satan destroyed the order and peace on the earth and according to the Bible, the whole world (now) lieth in wickedness (1 John 5:19 KJV).
Wickedness is everything that is not the nature of God. Wicked is the art and act of the devil; the devil is the wicked one (Matt. 13:19 KJV). Wickedness is opposed to the nature and candor of God. It refutes and rebuffs all goodness and wellness. Wickedness is the trade of the devil and he perpetuates it. Wickedness is against God and Man and so seeks to destroy everything that is of God or related to Man.
But God is good (Psalm 106:1). It is about this wicked one and his wickedness on the earth that God by His Mercy and Infinite Wisdom sent Jesus our Savior to reinstate and restore Man to Glory and Dominion. The Bible says, ‘…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil’. (1 John 3:8 KJV). This is the important need for everyone to allow and receive Jesus into his/her life so the wicked one will not wound or hurt him/her. Beloved, give Jesus a chance in your life…to help you. He came to help, save and restore you. Peace!
