Outlook is required to outlast

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matt. 14:30 KJV
Outlook is required to outlast.
Outlook or Point of view is central to one’s lifestyle, choice or preference as it is the mainframe of one’s conduct. Outlook is the differentiating element of how two or more people see (respond or react) to the same object of view. Outlook is how one sees things and not what things are seen. Take Note.
The issue of outlook is very important and central to how and what we choose. It is derived and driven by one’s knowledge and understanding of the truth. It is these elements (knowledge and understanding of the truth) that explain how one responds to a situation and selects a course of action.
In the reference scripture and storyline, the disciples saw a figure at the fourth watch of the night and being troubled by their outlook, they were fear-full for they saw (imagined) the figure was a spirit but they were very wrong in their outlook for that figure was rather their friend, mentor and leader; The Lord Jesus. This storyline well illustrates the notion of outlook. It must be understood that what is seen is not as central as how things are seen. We must get and gain this truth.
In the case and context of the reference story, what brought the disciples into fear is their outlook (point of view) and not what they were looking at (object of view). Akin to how in this instance, the object of view was blurred by the outlook of the disciples and thereby they became fearful, so has the outlook of many blurred the reality of some important object of view, thereby making light or fun of issues about which they should be more fearful and cautious.
Unbelief, sin and disregard for the law and commandment of God are classic examples of actions and activities with grave and far-reaching consequences that our World and Societies’ outlook (view) have made light whereas these must be viewed as serious as they are in reality. We cannot forsake, object or reject the Laws of God, make light of what God takes serious and expect to live. For the wages, compensation for sin (wrong doing) is death. (Romans 6:23 KJV)
As the Bible story continued, Jesus helped the outlook of the disciples as was recorded, “But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” And Peter gained confidence to approach The Lord Jesus “walking on water” except for his weak and blasted outlook he was not sustained. He (again) saw the wind boisterous; different situation but the same outlook; outlook of fear void of Faith and of course that outlook caused him to cave-in and buckle.
Thank God for the outlook of our Lord Jesus, who shared the same occasion but had a different outlook and identified Peter’s problem, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matt. 14:31 KJV) What is your outlook? How do you see things? Do you see God or Ghost? Note; outlook is not what is being viewed but how things are view. Do you see the cup half full or half empty?
Beloved, let’s strive to gain God’s outlook, see how God sees…walk by His conclusions (commandments); Great calm will marinate our lives.

Turning Point – Critical Point

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. (John 4:47 KJV)

Point of death is a critical point. Critical point is typically a no-definition point; a situation or instance where the outcome of a case is not determinable. It is the point in a case where outcome is outside human or natural control. It is a crescendo outside the parlance of Man.
Thermodynamics aptly illustrates critical point as that point where liquid and gases coexist at a particular temperature and pressure thus forming a supercritical substance that is neither liquid nor gas. At this point, there is no clear definition of the substance produced; the density of liquid and gas (vapor) are equal, hence a superficial result. At a critical point, critical temperature and pressure produces critical fluid. Nothing is determinable.
It must be observed that critical point is a turning point; a swing point where event may turn any way but good and grave insight is necessary to gain adaptive control.
In life’s course, we often encounter critical points, a situation where one is seemingly both hapless and helpless with evident ‘loss of control’ to direct or manage a situation. A point where one is tempted to give-in /give-up due to evident lack of means to effect change or redress.
Beloved, I learnt by God, that critical point is a blessed opportunity for a good turning point if one gains insight into the caprice of that precipice. We can triumph in critical situations no matter its texture.
The Bible describes a critical situation, its antics and foil.
Consider this, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present[a] help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her right early. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalm 46:1-5 RSV)
A cheap and venerable means to retain or gain control of critical situation is to allow God in the situation. Notice what the Bible says, “God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved” ; whereas the earth is moved or changed by the upset and the mountains tremble with its tumult; the City of God remains safe and unimpeded; the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her right early.
That City of God is our Heart if and when we allow God to reside there by Faith. When we receive and accept by Faith the Lord Jesus as both our Lord and Savior, God by His Spirit takes residence in our spirt and we become God’s own; that City where God (now) lives. (see John 3:1-8)
Yes, daunting and vicious situations may assail every so often but notice God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her right early for “He (GOD) makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear, he burns the chariots with fire! “Be still, and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations; I am exalted in the earth! ”The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:9-11 RSV). Please allow God to help you! Amen.
