Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (John 11:25 KJV)
The incidence and threat of death is the most crippling offense to a living being. It is the tool of extreme vengeance and the silencer for hateful strife. Death is just so insidious to the living. The Bible referenced the fear and grip of death as horrifying and its pain troubling when it says “The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.” (Psalm 116:3 KJV)
Yes death is horrific. We must do enough to free ourselves from its threat and terror. The path and tool for freedom from death and hell is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is typical for antonyms to provide counteracts for a particular word; in effect the antonym provides the offset that voids the effect of the related word. Take “Hot” for instance, “Cold” is its antonym – it provides an offset that reverses the use of the word “Hot” eroding its use or effect. The point is the counter effect or force of the antonym instead of its synonym.
What “Cold” is to “Hot” is what Life is to death. The incidence and threat of death is the compelling need to the incidence and relief delivered by Life.
Death had walked into the home of Lazarus and killed him, “…many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.” (John 11:19 KJV) That is the far and wide effect of death. No one regardless of number (many of the Jews came…) could reverse the effect of death. Everyone was haplessly helpless except for Life…Praise the Lord. And when Life showed up and death bowed out.
Beloved, we have a great and exceeding heritage in Christ; He came to free us from the threat and effect of Death; that we being delivered from this enemy may serve God without fear. Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:10-11 KJV). Jesus came to void and null the threat and effect of death in our lives if we believe. This is central to our faith in Christ. Consider what Jesus said; “I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) in Me [as Savior] will live even if he dies; 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me [as Savior] will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26 AMP) We must believe this to inherit it.
Death is prevalent and it is the end of all flesh when there is no Life but thank God; Jesus said, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 11:40). How true and eternal those Words are…I will raise him up at the last.
Death hath lost its sting and hell its power as Life is released by Christ Jesus to everyone who will believe.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
Power is the necessary impetus to effect a change. It is the eminence of Power that makes control and dominance possible. This eminence is in the Power of God.
According to the Scriptures, there are powers; “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:12) As Christians, we cannot ignore or avoid the notice of these power elements. Bible says, “we wrestle” against them; the more reason why we must be cognizant of what power is at work in us by which we overcome these powers.
It must be borne in mind that the notion and notice of these powers is never to terrify or mutilate the Believer rather to understand what we are up against and the acumen to cheaply gain control over them. Consider for a moment how some power packed systems, machines or devices are controlled by a small devise as key or remote control, just because the small devise can tacitly diffuse the imminent power of the system or machine. It is very intriguing how the imminent danger and capability domicile in a nuclear reactor is implicitly controlled and directed to other usage than the possible horror of mass destruction. This is the eminence of power; the power to control powers.
Beloved, there is a marvelous blessedness conveyed to us through Faith in the Name of the Lord Jesus; it is the Power to become the sons of God. Note the blessed eminence of God’s children as the Bible describes it, “For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].” (1 John 5:4AMP). Notice how prevalent and widespread the conquest and victory of God’s children could be and the basis of that compelling victory; ”… overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].”
“Our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]” is the sprout and spring of the Power that makes the mutation of ordinary men into the sons of God. Praise the Lord. We must take good notice and knowledge of this truth.
Mutation, according to the dictionary is “a sudden departure from the parent type in one or more heritable characteristics, caused by a change in a gene or a chromosome”. (Dictionary.com).The effect of mutation is so drastic that the characteristic feature of the original specie is completely altered to a variant now persistent in the new specie. Essentially a new creature emerges.
Beloved, Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. (2 Cor. 5:17 AMP) and that new creature is characterized dominance granted by God. Praise God!.
